Many stories begin with “Once upon a time…” and end with “… and they lived happily ever after.” This story begins and is ending that very way.
Growing up all over the eastern coast of these great United States of America, Greg found himself seeing many new places and making even more new friends. Except he never really spent enough time in one place to establish any deep roots. Until his family moved to Texas that is.
Just in time for high school, Greg and his family began calling the upper north side of San Antonio their home. Greg enrolled in Madison High School, and began participating in everything from basketball and track to theater and speed skating. It was that last hobby however that would end up changing his life forever, and ultimately introducing him to his bride.
Developing several tight groups of friends throughout high school, it was his roller skating friends that became most like family. Two weeks before Greg was to start his senior year at Madison, his family was called to move to another school district. Banding together, Greg’s friends provided him with a place to stay and all of his needs met. Rather than move one last time to a new school with all new people, Greg would spend his senior year at a new school, but with lots of good friends. Becoming a Churchill Charger one week after school started. His desire to learn computer and web development would eventually lead him to meet Aaron, the joining link to Amanda. The girl that would one day wear his ring and be the other side of him.
[Amanda CHILDHOOD STORY]
As Greg and Amanda went through their high school years, their paths crossed often. Often skating at the same skating rink, possibly even the same time. Making mutual friends and spending time at the same local hangouts, but they never did meet.
High school ended and life took both Greg and Amanda to new places of both adventure and mayhem. It wasn’t until one night in San Marcos at their friend Aaron and Jason’s apartment. Amanda had moved about an hour out of town and begun crashing at the apartment on nights before her early classes at Texas State. Greg would often come down from Austin on his days off to play the latest video game, eat delicious pizza and hang out. These occurrences happened often, and yet the two had never met. Each had only heard tall-tale stories of the other. This night would finally bring an end to that.
